Beyond the Machine & Electric Ensemble
| BEYOND THE MACHINE |
|
In 2001, the Music Technology Center hosted Beyond the Machine, the first concert of electronic and interactive music at Juilliard. Now an annual event, Beyond the Machine concerts are unique not only because they feature new technology but also because they regularly include students, faculty, alumni and guest artists performing on the same program.

The Juilliard Electric Ensemble was created in 2002 to provide students with the opportunity to use technology in the creation and performance of new works. The ensemble is unique among chamber groups in that its members often include dancers, actors, writers, visual artists and filmmakers. One of the primary goals of the JEE is to cultivate a creative environment where a spirit of interdisciplinary collaboration, experimentation and improvisation can flourish.

| This year, our program will include works that feature electronic and processed acoustic instruments, live interaction with computers, video projection, live interaction with artists in Europe via Internet link and a music/video improvisation |
